Machete

The machete was used for cutting through vegetation to clear a path. It was a tool.

There is a plant that grows in Vietnam called Nippa palm. All the hooches in the delta are thatched with the stuff. The stalk of the plant was tough stuff, and you had to hit it just right to cut through it with a machete. I had plenty of practice.
