Gas Mask
The Army's recommended way to carry the gas mask was strapped
to your hip where it would help break your fall if you had to hit
the dirt quickly. I carried it that way until I needed it the
first time. When I put it on and took a deep breath, I got
the full effect of the gas because one of the eyepieces was
broken out. There is nothing like being blind and puking in the
middle of combat. It turned out to be one of our guys that popped
it! I guess the wind changed.
I never needed it again after that.
