"Water Run" (2000) Designed & Sculpted by Ralph Sirianni The centerpiece of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park in Sprague Brook, NY. Dedicated Memorial Day, 2001. Before work began, the block of mahogany granite weighed 7000 pounds; it now weighs less than half. The figure, which is larger than life, portrays a function that anyone who has served in the military can relate to -- it depicts something peaceful, yet very necessary to survival. The GI is filling a canteen. This simple act of replenishment is essential to the sustenance of troops in combat. |
