The 82nd Airborne Division's monument to their fallen from the 3rd Brigade
that served in Vietnam is located outside the division's museum at Fort Bragg,
North Carolina, on the corner of Ardennes and Gela Streets.
In the Airborne
tradition of displaying the boots of their fallen troops, atop the monument is a
pair of bronze boots, an M-16 rifle with bayonet in the ground, and a helmet on
the butt of the rifle. The names of the fallen are engraved on the four sides
of the monument.
It is my hope that those veterans of the 82nd
Airborne Division's 3rd Brigade that haven't made it back to Fort Bragg to see
this monument will appreciate these photos. It was my pleasure and honor to
view the monument and museum in the summer of '96.
